
Robertson Facilities Management manages the mechanical services at the University Hospital of North Durham. The hospital depends on reliable water systems for daily operations and patient care. The project
The project involved removing the hospital’s auxiliary and primary cold water booster pump skids. We then replaced them with new, energy-efficient units. We also completed electrical and Building Management System (BMS) modifications in order to integrate the new pumps with existing controls. The upgraded system was designed to deliver more reliable water supply and reduce running costs. Scope Building Services was appointed to carry out the installation safely within a live hospital environment.

The challenges
Working in a live hospital presented distinct operational challenges. The existing pumps were part of a critical water supply system, so any disruption could affect hospital operations.
